DC Universe!!
We all know how much I LOVE the DC Universe! I’m a fan of the comics, the cartoons, the TV Shows and the movies (even though we know there are some issues with the newer ones). It would be safe to say that I love the DC plethora of characters more than any other collection of super heroes out there. When I first heard about the DC Universe subscription service I was IN! I honestly only thought it was for their new streaming shows and nothing else, but I was still in.
Well guess what, there’s more! There’s SO MUCH MORE they are giving us with this service. (Full press release can be read here)
Here, watch this.
Yeah, how freaking cool is this? TV Shows, Comics, movies! All under one umbrella service! There are so many stories I want to read that I never picked up that once I have access to this service I CAN! So many TV shows! I’ve been wanting to watch Birds of Prey for a LONG time and make my wife watch it with me! Imagine the shop topic ideas this will give us! Imagine the great content we will get from this! That’s just thinking of the older stuff!
Let’s break down the NEW shows:
Doom Patrol is a reimagining of one of DC’s strangest group of outcasts: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman and Crazy Jane. Led by the mysterious Dr. Niles Caulder they’re called into action by the ultimate hero for the digital age, Cyborg. Banding together these rejects find themselves on a mission that will take them to the weirdest and most unexpected corners of the DC universe.
I don’t know what to expect from this show. I’m excited for it, but does this line up with the DCEU? Is the Cyborg in this the same as in Justice League? I DUNNO! I’ll watch it, but I’m apprehensive of it. Which isn’t a bad thing, most of the time when I’m on the fence on a show (but leaning towards thinking it will be ok) it’s amazing! I mean, look at iZombie!
Harley Quinn follows Harley’s adventures after she breaks up with the Joker and strikes out on her own in this new adult animated comedy. With the help of Poison Ivy and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, Harley tries to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of the Doom.
Harley vs the Legion of Doom? I’M IN! I only wish this was live action cause how awesome would that be? I’ll take a cartoon! I’m not 100% sold on it not being in the original JESTER costume, because if you are going to make a cartoon that’s where that costume WORKS and we know it! But I will give the Amanda Conner costume a try!
Swamp Thing follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.
I’m not gonna lie, I was SUPER excited when I heard about this show! I was even MORE excited when I learned it was a live action! I LOVE Swamp Thing. I think he’s one of the best underrated popular yet not popular characters out there. I have high hopes for this one!
Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.
This is the show that kind of started all this DC Universe madness! There are a lot of people talking about this show, and some who are just assuming it will be garbage off a few set photos that got released. ALL of the official photos that have been released look AMAZING. I can’t imagine we have Robin looking so freaking awesome like he does in the recent released image and Beast Boy or Starfire looking like cheap cosplay. Let’s just wait for the show to see, ok? Me? I’m excited! I just wish it was Tim Drake Robin and Dick Greyson as Nightwing.
Young Justice: Outsiders features the return of the fan favorite animated series with a huge cast of DC’s most iconic young superheroes – plus brand-new characters, many of whom are just discovering their unique meta-powers and special abilities. Set against the backdrop of a rich, deep world that touches all corners of the DC universe, the season focuses on meta–trafficking, and an intergalactic arms race for control of these super–powered youths.
Seriously one of the greatest cartoons ever made. On par with anything you’eve ever seen and now it FINALLY get’s a third season! Please don’t screw this one up! It’s in good hands and I look forward to seeing these characters grow more!
Those all sound pretty awesome! I want to say I’m most excited for Young Justice, cause I feel like I’ve been waiting on this show FOREVER but as SOON as it was announced that Swamp Thing was a live action show, oh man that took me by surprise and get’s the top spot as my #1 most anticipated show out of this!
Let’s take a look at what you can READ
Members can read some of the most famous stories in comic book history such as the first 1938 Action Comics that introduced Superman to the world as well as Detective Comics #27 which first introduced Batman in 1939. Other titles include Geoff Johns and Jim Lee’s iconic Justice League (2011), Swamp Thing (2011) written by Scott Snyder, and Harley Quinn (2013) written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner. Rotating selections will cater to both members new to comics and passionate fans looking for hard-to-find titles. Comics can also be downloaded for reading offline on a smartphone or tablet.
Dude, that sounds DOPE. I do kind of wish it was like “HERE’S EVERYTHING THATS OVER A YEAR OLD” or like two years or something. Just give us access to ALL the old stuff to read through! But, curated might motivate me better to read stuff NOW knowing it could rotate out.
You like movies? Check THIS out!
Honestly, there are a lot of movies I’ve been wanting to watch but never got around to it and some are on this list! I can also show the movies I love that are part of this to my kids! Well, the ones they haven’t seen yet. DC makes some of the GREATEST cartoon movies out there, so holy shit it this amazing! I’ve been wanting to watch to old Superboy TV show for a long time, and now I can! SWEET!
If you couldn’t tell, I’m excited for this! I should note that all the “information” above was pulled from the official press release found here. I can not WAIT until this service is live and I can be one of the first to sign up! I have no idea what it’s going to cost…but still I want it!
