Daisy Ridley Reveals Rey was Nearly a Kenobi!

During Jimmy Kimmel Live, which was guest hosted by Josh Gad, Daisy Ridley reveals that the parentage and connections to the legacy characters was not fleshed out completely until the final film, The Rise of Skywalker. Despite her candidness in 2015/2016 when stating “isn’t it Obvious” about her connections being within The Force Awakens. She is now stating that the creative team behind the sequel trilogy went through different ideas before landing on Emperor Palpatine, Darth Sidious himself, being her granddaddy.

Her answer is below after Josh Gad asked about Rey’s secret and her parentage and if she knew from the beginning.

No, At the beginning there was toying with like an Obi-Wan connection. And then there were like different versions. Then it really went with she is no one. Then it came to episode 9 and JJ (Abrams) pitched me the film and was like “oh yea Palpatine’s granddaughter” and I was like.. Awesome. Then two weeks later he (JJ Abrams) was like, “We’re not sure”. So it kept changing. So then even when filming I wasn’t sure what the answer was gonna be.

Interesting that she would be so willing to let this out of the bag. Especially with how much criticism the Sequel trilogy has received over the last 5+ years for lack of vision and cohesiveness.
