What Happened at BlizzCon 2019!
BlizzCon this year brought a lot to the table for Blizzard. Blizzard announced two new continuations their series, in Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4, and two new expansions in WoW (World of Warcraft) and Hearthstone. Along with this Blizzard’s company Chief J. Allen Brack addressed the suspension of Hearthstone player Blitzchung.
Overwatch 2’s Announcement
The first major announcement from the con was Overwatch 2 being in development. It’s a full on sequel to the first one, focusing on PVE and co-op. Overwatch 2 will have a cohesive story and Hero Missions focused on leveling up your hero. Also new Hero was announced, the Canadian hero Sojourn.
Now Overwatch 2 will have everything you’ve collected from the first game transfer to the sequel, so you won’t lose any skins or cosmetics. One weird thing that comes from the multiplayer is that all the new maps will also be coming to the original Overwatch. To me that seems to defeat the purpose of making a sequel if everything is coming to the original game as well.
Diablo 4 Announcement
If you could remember back to Diablo 2, you would remember how occult the game was. Diablo 2 was filled with satanic symbols and objects, and tons of blood. It seems like Diablo 4 is going to be more of a sequel to Diablo 2 than Diablo 3.
Diablo 4 is what kicked off BlizzCon this year. Blizzard released a full CG trailer along with a few minutes of game-play.
Inside the game-play we see a return of the druid class and the ability to ride horses. There were leaks online from the official art book of the gaming revealing the return of Lilith from Diablo 2.
Diablo Immortal is still in development.
World of Warcraft Shadowlands Announcement
The next WoW expansion is going to be Shadowlands. Players must join different guilds to fight against Sylvanas in a plane of death and decay. Not much is known about the expansion outside of a level cap of 60 and a new endgame dungeon.
WoW classic will also have an update on November 12.
Hearthstone Descent of Dragons Announcement
The final thing announced at Blizzcon was an expansion to Hearthstone. Obviously this expansion is adding a ton of dragons. The game will have a new game mode in Battleground.
