The Thing (1982)

This week the Nerds discuss the 1982’s The Thing. Shea (All Crime, No Cattle) joins us this week as we talk about why The Thing is among our favorite horror movies.

John Carpenter directed the movie and it stars Kurt Russell & Keith David. It is based on 1938 Sci-fi novella, “Who Goes There?” by John W. Campbell, Jr.  Critics gave it mostly negative reviews at the time of its release, but more recently gained cult status.

“In remote Antarctica, a group of American research scientists are disturbed at their base camp by a helicopter shooting at a sled dog. When they take in the dog, it brutally attacks both human beings and canines in the camp and they discover that the beast can assume the shape of its victims. A resourceful helicopter pilot and the camp doctor lead the camp crew in a battle against the vicious creature.”
