Taking One Last Look Sir, At My Friends

The Final trailer for The Rise of Skywalker is out and the reception appears to be… split.

It may not be the best in the saga but nor is it the worst. And while it doesn’t do much in revealing anything new. There are many exciting moments in the 2 minutes 22 seconds of footage. We see confirmation of a big space battle, an actual lightsaber fight, and more Palpatine. The question still remains though. What is the driving force, or the Mcguffin, of this movie?

Tickets are going to sell like crazy. It has already surpassed Avengers: Endgame in most tickets sold in the first hour on ATOM. This was a given with how the film is being touted as the final installment in the Skywalker Saga. Problem is, besides that and the reveal of Darth Sidious returning there really hasn’t been anything else to go on story wise.

This could all be for effect though. We know JJ Abrams likes to keep things close to the chest and not reveal any major plot points in his trailers. BUT COME ON MAN!

Rey and Kylo fighting and destroying…the burned helmet of Vader?

We do get a little snippet of what we will see and questions that will, HOPEFULLY, be answered.

Rey still battling her demons with not knowing who she is.
Kylo claiming he knows her
Palpatine’s return
Imperial Star Destroyers!
The Fate of Leia
Lando’s return
and MUCH more.

The trailer also gives us a little bit of a wink with this C-3PO moment here.

Could this be the End of C-3PO?

C-3PO hits you right in the feels with this line. It’s echoing what we as fans will all be saying walking into the theaters in December. (I’m not crying…YOU’RE CRYING!)

I will say my initial reaction to the trailer (which can be heard here) wasn’t as big as I was hoping for. The trailers for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi pumped me up and I was ecstatic about those movies. This one however, just seemed to be tame and even depressing at times. (see pic above)

I fully expect to feel the feels in this film, but the trailer should get your adrenaline pumping and make you want to start waiting in line now for the final installment.

Speaking of which, did you get your tickets yet? Colton Payne and I will be attending the 5pm Fan Event screening at the AMC Theater at the Waterfront in Pittsburgh PA on December 19th. Come find and join us. We will be walking around talking to fans about their expectations of the movie. Then after the film we will be talking to everyone about their feelings on the end of the Skywalker Saga.

Along with the trailer we also saw the release of two posters. (see below)
