We already knew that a sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog was in the works we have found some confirmation that the sequel looks to be heading into production early 2021.
Spoilerverse found over on creativebc.com, the Creative BC Film Commission Website, that a film codenamed ‘Emerald Hill’ is currently looking to start production on March 15, 2021. For those unfamiliar with Sonic the Hedgehog, Emerald Hill is the name of the first zone in the second Sonic the Hedgehog videogame. With that, another fact pointing to this as being the Sonic sequel is Jeffery Fowler is tabbed as the Director.
Finally, it appears production will last roughly two months ending on May 10.
The first film released on January 25, 2020 and had a budget of $85 million. Despite the pandemic, Sonic was able to make more than $320 million at the box office making it the fourth highest grossing film this year. It’s expected that Jim Carrey, James Marsden and Ben Schwartz will return for the sequel.
