We just got a new release from the fine folks running Rose City Comic Con to announce some pretty awesome things they have going on this year. Full press release is below, but let’s talk about it for a moment. Really this is going to be me going through the press release, giving you my thoughts, then letting you read the whole thing after.
Oni Press and Dark Horse Comics has teamed up with RCCC this year for some awesome stuff. I love BOTH of these publishers and would LOVE for one of them to pick up Eynes Anthology and release it into the wild. Come on, you know you want to. I love it when publishers team up with cons to give a little something extra. I KNOW I’ve talked harshly about variants before, but I have always said that a variant from a show is different. It’s more like a souvenir from the show AND a comic, so it get’s a pass.
The University of Oregon is now offering a minor in Comics and Cartoon Studies? Looks like I’m about to become a Duck. I mean, not really, but if I was heading to college right now that would be a pretty awesome thing to minor in.
A special screening of Greg Rucka’s graphic novel turned ABC TV Show Stumptown? That sounds like fun. I probably wont go to it cause I tend to skip screenings at cons, but it does sound fun to be involved in that and a Q&A with the case and creator.
I don’t know what this is, but Java Monster is giving out free coffee inside and outside the show. This sounds amazing. There’s also some new local beer in the beed garden, which is GREAT, but come on….free coffee? SOLD! Or well, not sold cause it’s free.
Here is the exciting one, LEAKY CON will be there! This is pretty awesome if you are a Harry Potter fan for sure. I’ve never been but I’m excited to see it being included into RCCC!
I for one am excited and will do my best to get down there to attend and report on all the awesomeness. What in this release excites you?
