OSCAR ISAAC as SOLID SNAKE in Sony’s METAL GEAR SOLID MOVIE

The long in-development movie, Metal Gear Solid, seems to have picked up some momentum as deadline reports Oscar Isaac (The Rise of Skywalker, Dune) is now attached to portray Solid Snake, the story’s main protagonist. Discussion’s of adapting the mega-hit PlayStation game has been going for a number of years with very little movement ever seen. Now, with Isaac being cast and Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island, The Kings of Summer) directing it seems things are moving in the right direction.

With a script written by Derek Connolly (Jurassic World, Kong: Skull Island), the film will be based on the Metal Gear Solid video game created by Hideo Kojima and released by Konami. It will also be produced by Avi Arad (The Amazing Spider-Man, Venom).

For those unaware, the video game Metal Gear Solid released on the PlayStation in 1998. It revolutionized the stealth style game and helped push Sony’s PlayStation console to new heights. The gamer controls Solid Snake, a soldier who infiltrates a nuclear facility to neutralize a terrorist threat from a renegade special forces unit called FOXHOUND. While this was not the first game of the series it is the most widely known which also spawned off a number of sequels over the past 20 years.

2020 is appearing to be a big year for the 41 year Oscar Isaac. Just a few weeks back it was revealed that he would be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the role of Moon Knight. Now, with this casting Isaac will be leading two properties that have the ability to have some longevity to them.
