Neil Gaiman Reveals When The Sandman Starts Production
For those who aren’t aware, Neil Gaiman’s highly applauded series, The Sandman, is coming to Netflix in the near future. While the exact release will be heavily guarded by Netflix and their execs, we now know when production will begin thanks to a tweet from Neil Gaiman himself.
It's starting to feel real. We begin shooting in 3 weeks, lockdowns permitting. #SandmanonNetflix pic.twitter.com/B4QKU9NooT

Back in July during the virtual San Diego Comic-Con panel, writer David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Blade: Trinity) revealed that filming would begin in the fall of 2020 but had no specific dates.
While the recent audiobook exclusive to Audible was completely faithful to the original comic series, Neil Gaiman has stated that the Netflix series will essentially update and modernize the original story.
Doing the Netflix TV series, we’re very much looking at that as going, ‘Okay, it is 2020, let’s say that I was doing Sandman starting in 2020, what would we do? How would we change things? What gender would this character be? Who would this person be? What would be happening?'”
