George Lucas Wanted DARTH MAUL as the MAIN VILLAIN of the SEQUEL TRILOGY

Found over on REDDIT, posted by bothanspy89, an excerpt from a new book ‘Star Wars Archives Episode 1-3 The Prequels‘ has an interview with George Lucas where he apparently spills the beans on some ideas he had for his Star Wars Sequel Trilogy (see below).

r/StarWarsLeaks - George Lucas wanted Maul has the big bad guy of the Sequels, this is from the new book Star Wars Archives Episode 1-3 The Prequels with new interviews from Lucas

Whether this is from the outline that Disney scrapped before hiring Kasdan and Abrams to start the Sequel Trilogy, or if this is from some old plan that Lucas had many moons ago, one thing is for certain. A couple of these ideas are bonkers. However, we do know that Lucas had a sense of regret in killing off Darth Maul in Episode 1 which he began to rectify, with the help of Dave Filoni, in the Clone Wars cartoon. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that George intended on bringing him back for a much larger role down the line.

What do you think of this potential revelation of Lucas’ plan for the Sequels?
