Dungeons & Dragons Officially Announces Mythic Odysseys of Theros

Dungeons & Dragons has officially announced Mythic Odysseys of Theros, a new campaign setup book for Magic: The Gathering plane of Theros. Mythic Odysseys of Theros will be a new campaign that will adapt Theros from Magic: The Gathering for fifth edition D&D.

The new source book will have at least two new subclasses, two playable races and several new mechanics! The Mythical Monsters are a new type of encounter of monsters with abilities even greater than those of a legendary creature.

In the article, designer James Wyatt provides Arasta of the Endless Web as an example. “Having been fighting her for a while, all the little baby spiders that cling to her abdomen break off and start fighting with you too. You have to deal with them before you can finish the job.” Wyatt compared the Mythical Monsters to waves during a boss fight in video games. Players will also have the option of receiving supernatural gifts from the gods. Examples include having the mind of a sphinx, which prevents their thoughts from being read. Wyatt noted that supernatural gifts are a direct boost, but shouldn’t break the game.
