Deeper Memeing – You Son of a Bitch, I’m In
Hello Spoiler Country, and welcome to “In Search of Deeper Memeing” where we look at memes. I personally love me some memes, them and cat pics are realistically the only things that keep me on Facebook. For this installment, we are looking at “You Son of a Bitch, I’m In” meme.
BACKGROUND
In the season four episode of Rick and Morty titled “One Crew Over the Crewcoo’s Morty” (released one day before part one of Spoiler Country’s Erik Larsen interview. John was working on recapping season four of Rick and Morty I think he has gotten one episode posted at the time this is being shared) the titular duo get caught up in the heisting which leads to a lot of great jokes at the expense of the genre. One of the recurring lines in the episode (which personally got me every time) was the phrase “You son of a bitch, I’m in” which was usually said by someone Rick was trying to recruit for a heist.
BREAKING IT DOWN
Like Rick in the episode, the text above the image is trying to recruit someone to do something. The minimal amount of dialogue shows how easy it is to convince the person to join. I personally. Normally you see the meme with either Morty saying the line and Rick with a lollipop in his mouth. Personally I don’t like the Rick one since he never says the line in the episode.
LONGEVITY
With the episode coming out during the reign of Baby Yoda and Woman Yelling at Cat, this meme never really got it’s time atop the meme world but it’s had a fairly successful December. As long as they continue to make heist films hopefully the template will never truly die, being resurrected by meme makers when a new heist movie comes out to rip on it.
