Capcom Home Arcade – Why you need it.
You know I didn’t expect to be writing about video games this often, with bringing PNWJrock I figured he would handle all the video game stuff on the site, but man SNK announced their Neo Geo Arcade Stick, I went to PAX (which PNWJrock wrote about) and now I find out Capcom is releasing a Home Arcade? Well, I guess you get another video game article out of me.
We all know I love me some Capcom games, you can hear me gush about it over on Play Comics when I talked about Marvel vs Capcom recently. As a kid I was a Mortal Kombat enthusiast cause it was BLOODY and pissed off adults. My dad didn’t care, but my mom was always a little “uhm, I don’t like this”. All my friends played MK, but I ALSO played Street Fighter II at the arcade, cause I loved the mechanics of it. Secretly I think there was a lot of bleed over int he Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat worlds of players that no one wanted to admit. They are both amazing fighting games in completely different ways.
The Capcom Home Arcade brings in a set of 16 classic games to play on arcade sticks, which is honestly the bet way to play some games. Street Fighter II, Darkstalkers, AvP, 1944 and more. So many great classic games built into a dual arcade controller and hooked up to your TV of choice. I have a 110″ HD Projector screen that this would be WICKED awesome (channeling my inner Bostonian for that) to play on.
- 1944: The Loop Master
- Alien vs Predator
- Armored Warriors
- Capcom Sports Club
- Captain Commando
- Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness
- Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
- Eco Fighters
- Final Fight
- Ghouls n Ghosts
- Giga Wing
- Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting
- Mega Man: The Power Battle
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
Boasting HDMI out, USB power, and built in Wi-Fi this could be the start of a sweet home arcade cabinet. I don’t know if you’ve looked at the price of an arcade machine, but I have and it’s insane. you can pick this up for around $250 at launch time in October. I can see this being used a the board and controller and a cabinet built around it, hell I think I might do that.
I will probably pick one of these up, not at launch though I will probably wait until January to pick it up so I can build a cabinet around it, or at least build a stand for it to put in front of my projector screen to play some awesome arcade games in glorious HD and at 120″.
Here are some detail from the official release.
